"I didn't like the game much. We can and must play better, but the main thing is to win and win comfortably, but we have to play better," the Portuguese coach said. That said, he also wanted to look on the bright side and went on to stress that "there were times when the fans applauded".
"What I liked about my team is the fact that without Ramos, Xabi and Khedira, who have been key players in the last couple of years, the team has played, won, and produced enough to win. In the past we struggled without both of them. But not anymore," he added.
Mourinho indicated that Modric and Essien were the best thing about the team that lined-up against Zaragoza. "They have done a hard job and they each scored a goal apiece. This is what I liked most", he said.
The Real Madrid coach also praised Albiol and re-iterated his ''trust'' in the player, as well as praising the opposition's performance. "The score should have been 3-1 or something similar. That would have been a fairer result," he admitted.
He agreed with his counterpart Manolo Jiménez, who thought his team deserved more: "The result doesn't do justice to what happened, they have a lot of firepower and we lacked concentration in three of the goals, which were from rebounds. We had a goal disallowed that was completely legitimate. When the score was 2-0 we were still in it. We weren't inferior, it's just they are so lethal in attack."
