Another Barça defender bites the dust

An injury curse continues to ravage the Barcelona defence. Adriano Correia suffered a problem with the adductor muscle in his right leg in the league match against Celta de Vigo at the Camp Nou, the club has revealed.

The man who started at right-back for Barça made way for his compatriot Dani Alves in the 39th minute, after gesturing to the bench when he felt a twinge in his leg during a foray into the opposition box.
Adriano, who had broken the deadlock for Barça, has been prone to muscle injuries throughout his career, although he had enjoyed a consistent run of fitness and shown good form of late, acquitting himself well across the backline.
This is the Brazilian's second layoff of the season, following the strain he picked up against Granada. The severity of the current blow and how long he will be out for will be ascertained once more tests are carried out.
Vilanova is facing a defensive headache ahead of Wednesday's match against Celtic, as neither Carles Puyol nor Gerard Piqué is expected to make it back for the Champions League clash.
