Del Bosque: "Atlético has a real chance of winning at the Bernabeu"

The manager made these statements in Parla (Madrid), where he was opening a sports track that bears his name at the occupational therapy centre for mentally disabled people 'Villa de Parla'.
When asked about the upcoming Madrid derby, the first one in fourteen years in which Atlético de Madrid arrives higher placed than their opponents in the league, Del Bosque stated that Diego Simeone's men "are really playing like a team and of course I see them having a real chance of winning at the Bernabeu".
"Atlético's role makes our league more exciting. Obviously we have two huge clubs, Madrid and Barcelona, but 'Atleti' is there in the mix and for now we have to applaud everything they’ve done in recent years, not just their European titles, but also their performances in the league", he pointed out.
The national coach believes that "with the consistency it’s showing", Atleti has become the other alternative, although when asked whether this alternative can keep going until the end of the season, Del Bosque pointed out: "We can’t possibly know if they can keep it up until the end, but they’re there for now".
"We can only talk about what has happened, because it's difficult in football to talk about what is going to happen. But for now, Atlético de Madrid's performances are worthy of praise", the World Cup and European Championship winning coach concluded.
