This is because García is a product of Real Madrid's youth academy and is precisely the sort of player who never shirks a challenge when he sees it, whether on or off the pitch.
"It's a match between two of the top teams in Europe. Although qualifying for the next round is going to be a tall order, at the very least we have to make it into the Europa League. We're all raring to play. It will be great game and we are going to pull out all the stops", said the former Benfica battler.
The midfielder is in no doubt about how to approach the fixture: "The key is to keep our concentration, because they have players who will punish any slip-ups. They are in good form and need to win, but we also have people up front who can make a difference. They will have to be on their guard, too".
Javi García is a perfect example of a Madrid-groomed youngster forced to look elsewhere because he finds his path to the first team blocked. He’s not one to mince his words on the subject: "The players that have left have done well, many eventually made it into the Spain squad and won the World Cup…so you ask yourself, if they've done that, why aren't they deemed good enough for Madrid?"
