Former Armstrong teammate regrets not doping

MARCA.COM

Benoît Joachim, a former cyclist from Luxemburg and teammate of Lance Armstrong, regretted not having doped himself during his career and not having access to Dr. Ferrari's methods, reports 'Le Quotidien'.
"I had the opportunity to work with him [Ferrari]. Unfortunately, and I mean it, unfortunately I couldn't for a number of reasons, mainly because I was scared of testing positive".
Joachim, who was Armstrong's teammate from 1999 to 2006, went on to say, "The truth is that when I think about everything I could have achieved in terms of wages and popularity by working with Ferrari, I regret it".
The 36-year-old former cyclist described Michele Ferrari as a "genius". "One man alone was better than lots of investigators working in the fight against doping." He concluded, "With Ferrari, my career would have been much better."
He was very clear about the charges against Armstrong and the investigation: "I was really surprised. I believe that Armstrong was a great champion and will remain so, and for me he continues to be the winner of all of the races he won."
"They are cowardly testimonies, very cowardly. They are all cyclists who got the most out of this sport and won a lot of money thanks to Armstrong," said Joachim in regard to the statements by some of the witnesses.
