Callejón earns his place

José Mourinho knows that José Callejón is a player who always produces the goods when called upon by the Real Madrid coach. When the Granada-born forward is called into action to get his team out of a sticky situation – as was the case in Real's comeback against Mallorca and the hard fought draw against Borussia Dortmund – the youngster never lets the Portuguese down.
After Callejón's last two fantastic performances against Dortmund and Levante, the winger has impressed both the team manager and the Real Madrid faithful and could have earned himself a starting place in the game against Athletic de Bilbao.
The past week was one to be remembered by Callejón. He replaced Gonzálo Higuaín in attack at halftime and caused the opposition problems with his movement and pace – which played a key part in Real's fight-back and will help the team’s cause for qualification to the next round. The super-sub was unlucky not to get on the score-sheet after having a goal unfairly disallowed.
Callejón then started the match against Levante, due to the team's injury crisis, and put on another fine display. The forward played the full 90 minutes – achieved just once previously, against Mallorca (2011-12 season) - on the waterlogged Ciutat de Valencia pitch.
