The Brazilian had an appointment in an operating room at the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam this morning, where he's to receive surgery from the famed Dutchman Cornelius Niek Van Dijk.

The fifth metatarsal in his right foot is the area that will operated on, which he injured in a Brazil training session last Sunday. He's expected to be out of action for around three months.
Marcelo is in the hands of one of the premier sports surgeons in Europa. Van Dijk is a world expert in the treatment and recovery of ankle injuries and Madrid were very happy with the results of his work on Cristiano's right ankle in July 2008. He also treated him in November 2009 and September 2010 for the results of the hard challenges of Diawara and Cendrós.
Van Dijk received a PhD from the University of Amsterdam in 1994 and at the start of the career he sepcialized in treating the delicate injuries of big ballet stars. After his move into football, he helped players like Van Nistelrooy when he was at Madrid, Ballack, Inzaghi, Van Persie and Kluivert.
