Málaga:Remarkable journey on a shoestring

Málaga remains unbeaten in the Champions League group phase after drawing its last match against Anderlecht. A goal by Dieumerci Mbokani in the 89th minute levelled the score after Duda's brace.
Despite a superb performance by Manuel Pellegrini's side – who had already secured its place in the last eight as the group winner – the final game left the Andalusian club with a bitter-sweet taste. The Spanish team was on the verge of being awarded €1 million by UEFA for victory in the Champions League.
Pellegrini had previously stated his desire for his team to keep winning in order to help the club, which is experiencing financial difficulties, but it was not to be.
Málaga was also unlucky to lose Jeremy Toulalan, who had to be replaced due to injury as the midfielder damaged his hamstring.
The home side opened the scoring moments before the break with a fine strike by Duda, after a great piece of play by Seba on the right, making the manager’s team-talk an easy one at halftime. However, Málaga's joy was short-lived. Milan Jovanovic equalised for the visitors five minutes into the second half – the winger finishing well after being played in by Mbokani.
Duda struck again to make it 2-1, with a cross shot in the 62nd minute. Anderlecht posed a threat, but Idriss Kameni kept the Belgian side at bay. Alas, in the 89th minute he was unable to keep out Mbokani's header. It did not turn out to be a great night for Málaga, but the team progresses to the next round and continues its remarkable journey.
