Abramovich chasing Guardiola hard

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is pinning all his hopes on confirming Pep Guardiola as his new manager after firing Roberto Di Matteo and seeing an unimpressive start from his successor Rafa Benítez, says The Sun newspaper.According to the British tabloid the constant pressure forced on Guardiola by the Russian magnate to accept the position is beginning to irritate the former Barcelona coach. Parties close to Abramovich are said to have advised him to ease off on Guardiola who is determined to see out a sabbatical year.
What Abramovich does not want is either of the Manchester clubs or Paris Saint-Germain jumping ahead of him in the queue to secure Guardiola's services. It is thought that Chelsea first made telephone contact with the coach within a month of him announcing that he would take a year away from the game on his departure from Barcelona in April.
It is also claimed that Abramovich only confirmed that Di Matteo would continue to manage the side after first being rejected by Guardiola. A month ago Chelsea asked the same question only to receive the same answer.
